If low blood sugar is the problem that gives you that frantic "crazy" feeling, you might try drinking a glass of milk. A sweet drink such as orange juice is the most commonly recommended quick solution, but I have been told (on my LC list) that protein actually acts faster than sugar when you get that feeling. A glass of milk seems like a healthy not-really-a-snack rescue! I find that as long as I don't chew anything, it doesn't get the nibbly-munchies started. If you don't like milk or can't tolerate it, how about tea or coffee with cream and just a little sugar? I have noticed that a sweet drink of any kind will postpone hunger, much longer than I would have expected. Diane |
