I was emailed the following suggestion yesterday: > I have a suggestion for total wimps. Start the plan > on an S-day. Then > you have 1 (or maybe 2) days to realize that you are > not on it, but to > make yourself aware of all that Sugar and Snacking > and all those Second > helpings, and what a disgusting slovenly pig you > are. By Monday, I think > one would be pumped. I think this is an interesting idea for 2 reasons, besides motivating you to seriously start the diet: 1) It will make you pay attention to your behavior "in the wild." You'll have a snapshot of bad behavior to compare future days to, S and non-S. People are often disappointed by how much they eat come the first S day. I think much of this has to do with the contrast with non-S days. Having a clear picture of this "before" behavior might be more likely to prevent such unwarranted early discouragement. 2) It's an interesting thought experiment, even if you don't do it. It highlights the importance of simple attention, how difficult it is be to pay attention pre-nosdiet (and how depressing), and how much easier when there are only a limited number of days and meals.
